The Cancom Auxiliary Program is a structured student and volunteer development initiative created by Cancom Security Inc. to help individuals build a pathway into the security and public safety profession.
This volunteer program provides supervised exposure to real-world event operations while clearly operating in a non-licensed, non-enforcement capacity.

What is the Cancom Auxiliary?
The Cancom Auxiliary is a community-based volunteer program in Ontario that supports:
- Public events
- Fundraisers

- Client-hosted gatherings
Auxiliary members assist in event logistics and public information services while working under the supervision of licensed Cancom Security personnel.
This program does not provide security guard services and does not replace licensed guards.
Volunteer Security Career Development Program in Ontario
The Cancom Auxiliary was created to:
- Develop future security professionals
- Provide structured volunteer hours for police candidates
- Offer exposure to security operations and leadership
- Support career readiness for Ontario security licensing
- Create a recruitment pipeline into Cancom Security
Many students and young professionals seek volunteer hours for policing or public safety applications. The Cancom Auxiliary provides verified participation in a structured, disciplined environment.
What Auxiliary Members Do at Events
Auxiliary members focus on public-facing assistance and event support.
Primary Duties Include:
- Providing information and directions to event attendees
- Supporting crowd flow guidance (non-enforcement)
- Assisting with registration tables and credential check-in
- Helping coordinate line management
- Supporting parking direction (non-enforcement)
- Assisting in fundraising and charity events
- Observing and reporting concerns to supervising guards
The primary role of an Auxiliary member is to assist the public and enhance event experience.
What Auxiliary Members Do NOT Do
To ensure compliance with Ontario regulations, Auxiliary members:
- Do not perform licensed security guard duties
- Do not detain or remove individuals
- Do not intervene physically in disputes
- Do not carry handcuffs, batons, or defensive tools
- Do not conduct patrol or alarm response
- Do not wear security guard uniforms
All enforcement activities are handled by licensed Cancom Security personnel.
Supervised Volunteer Experience
Auxiliary members work directly under:
- Licensed Ontario Security Guards
- Event Supervisors
- Cancom Security Management
This provides structured mentorship and exposure to professional security standards, report writing awareness, event coordination, and public safety operations.
Uniform & Professional Standards
Auxiliary members wear:
- Cancom Auxiliary branded golf shirt
- Black cargo pants
- Black belt
- Black footwear
Auxiliary uniforms do not contain “Security” identifiers to clearly distinguish volunteers from licensed guards.
All members must maintain professional appearance, conduct, and discipline.
