No licence? No problem. Our free 40-hour security guard licensing course starts every Monday at our Toronto training centre. You’ll learn everything you need to pass the Ontario security guard exam, then put those skills to work at some of the busiest properties in Toronto and the GTA: shopping centres, office towers, residential and mixed-use buildings, construction sites and parking facilities.
You’ll be a strong fit if you:

From Monday Start to Licensed Officer

- Earn First Aid & CPR-C ($140), unless you already hold a valid WSIB certificate.
- Receive your Training Completion Number (TCN) and book the provincial exam (currently $75.15).
5. Pass the Ontario Security Guard Test, administered by Serco.
6. Apply for your licence online through ServiceOntario (fee $80), download your digital licence and start working with Cancom.Your total cost: about $155 in government fees, plus $140 if you need First Aid/CPR.

Is the training really free?
Yes. The 40-hour security guard licensing course is free. You only pay the government’s exam and licence fees, plus First Aid/CPR if you don’t already have it.
When does the next class start?
Every Monday. Apply using the form below and we’ll confirm your start date.
Do I need security experience?
No. The course is beginner-friendly and covers everything tested on the provincial exam. Customer service, hospitality or public-facing experience is a bonus.
Do I need a licence before I apply?
No. That’s what our free training is for. Apply now, and we’ll get you licensed.
What shifts are available once I’m licensed?
Placements include day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts. Tell us your availability on the application.
How long before I can start working?
Most people complete the course, pass the exam and receive their digital licence within three to four weeks of their Monday start.
